Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is set to star in and executive produce The Titan Games, NBC’s new physical competition series.

The television network has ordered 10 episodes of the new show, with Jonson announcing its conception during an appearance on the post-Super Bowl edition of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

“We wanted to create a new kind of athletic competition unlike anything ever attempted before,” Johnson said.

The Titan Games will see normal, bog-standard people get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to compete in head-to-head challenges to test their minds, bodies and hearts.

The competition is open to anyone in the States, male or female, who think they deserve the title ‘Titan’.

Competitors of the show will face one of six reigning Titans, and pending their win, they too can become a member of the elite Titan gang. However, the fun doesn’t stop there – as they then need to win every week to stay at the top.

The season finale will then feature an epic battle where the Titans compete to become the last man and woman standing.

Dwayne Johnson, Arthur Smith, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Toby Gorman all serve as executive producers for the series.

Filming of the first season is set to begin in September, with no premiere date set at this time.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this project,” said Smith, who also produces “American Ninja Warrior” for NBC. “It plays to my love of athleticism and story and entertainment.”
