FEATURE: 10 shows we’d love to see shown on Netflix in Ireland

JOE

Netflix needs to get on these.

by Rudi Kinsella

Netflix is deadly. It has revolutionised the way people watch television and movies, and it is good value when you consider what you’re getting for your money. They add content to their database every month but, no doubt due to commercial concerns, none of these shows have been added yet.

Maybe they are on their list for 2017. Here’s hoping.

1) Lost

Complaints about Lost centred on the fact that it was too hard to follow, but those who love it REALLY love it.

2) The Simpsons

Even though The Simpsons is on television every day, you always take the risk that the episode you’re watching was made after 2005, in which case you’re better off giving it a miss.

That risk would disappear if Netflix acquired the classic show.

3) The Wire

If you haven’t watched The Wire, you’re missing out. Simple as. I would say to go and buy the boxset right now, but Netflix could make everyone’s lives a lot easier if they just got it for us.

4) The Sopranos

The winner of many “best TV show of all time” accolades, and rightly so. Netflix don’t tend to broadcast HBO shows, which is a massive shame.

5) Futurama

One of the most underrated animated series’ of all time, this show has a number of classic episodes. We would certainly welcome Fry, Bender and the gang to Netflix.

6) The West Wing

Given everything we’ve faced in 2016, we need President Bartlet back on our screens.

7) Family Guy

How the hell has this not been added to Netflix yet? The ridiculously controversial cartoon has a huge fanbase.

8) South Park – See 7.

9) Seinfeld

A show that defined a generation, and one that shaped the way sitcoms would be made for years to come.

10) Friends

Even though most people have seen every episode 100 times, we certainly wouldn’t complain if the iconic Central Park gang made an appearance on Netflix.
