Celebrating the 62nd birthday of a movie icon.
One of the most recognisable faces and names on the planet, Jackie Chan has achieved so much in his 62 years.
From martial arts, acting, producing, stunt work, directing, music and philanthropy, there isn’t much that Chan hasn’t done.
Despite being ubiquitous over the last number of decades, The Rush Hour legend still remains fascinating.
With that in mind, here are seven quickfire facts about the Hong Kong icon, Jackie Chan…
His birth name, Kong-sang, actually means ‘Born in Hong Kong’
He spent many of his formative years in Canberra, Australia, where his parents worked in the Embassy
Chan was back and forth between Australia and Hong Kong in his early days, trying to break into the movie business.
His list of injuries from botched stunts is vast (he has a permanent hole in the head from one), but his most painful was at the hands of Bruce Lee
Chan worked as a stunt co-ordinator alongside the legendary Bruce Lee, before his untimely death, and received a ferocious injury courtesy of Lee and a pair of nunchucks.
He has very limited formal martial arts training
Jayzus, we’d love to see a fully trained master, if that’s the case.
He’s great friends with Sylvester Stallone
We love that these two have a bromance, we really do.
Don’t pretend like you don’t agree, Sly.
He, unsurprisingly, performs all of his own stunts and actually hits his co-stars, who he asks to wear protective gear
He, additionally, expects all of his fellow actors to do their own action scenes.
He is a big music star in Asia
