Cinema date?
There’s an incredibly eclectic bunch of films being released in Irish cinemas this September and here’s a taste of what’s in store.
Sausage Party
Release date: September 2nd
Plot: A sausage strives to discover the truth about his existence.
Go see it because: Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, James Franco et all are back and any film that has a joke featuring a ‘Bag O’Gees’ is fine by us.

The 9th Life Of Louis Drax
Release date: September 2nd
Plot: After Louis Drax’s 9th birthday, a lifetime of curious mishaps culminates in the boy’s near-fatal fall. Desperate to reveal the strange circumstances behind the young boy’s accident and dark coincidences that have plagued his entire life, Dr. Allan Pascal (Dornan) is drawn into a thrilling mystery that explores the nature of the sixth sense, testing the boundaries of fantasy and reality.
Go see it because: Aaron Paul is also involved with this one and the director, Alexandre Aja, is quite talented with horror having helmed Switchblade Romance, The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha-3D.

Cafe Society
Release date: September 2nd
Plot: Set in the 1930s, a young Bronx native moves to Hollywood where he falls in love with the secretary of his powerful uncle, an agent to the stars. After returning to New York he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life.
Go see it because: Jesse Eisenberg is superb and it’s a genuine return to form for Woddy Allen. His fans will love it.
Don’t Breathe
Release date: September 9th
Plot: A group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re wrong.
Go see it because: This has been earning rave reviews in the US and we warned you before about just how scary this film is.
Anthropoid
Release date: September 9th
Plot: Based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the World War II mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich. The Reich’s third in command after Hitler and Himmler, Heydrich was the main architect behind the Final Solution and the leader of occupying Nazi forces in Czechoslovakia whose reign of terror prompted self-exiled Czech and Slovak soldiers to hatch a top-secret mission that would change the face of Europe forever.
Go see it because: Cillian Murphy, Jamie Dornan and a tale of espionage. What else do you need?

Captain Fantastic
Release date: September 9th
Plot: In the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education is forced to leave his paradise and enter the world, challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent.
Go see it because:It’s one of the greatest performances that Viggo Mortensen has ever given and it’s unlike any film that you’ve seen.

Blair Witch
Release date: September 15th
Plot: After discovering a video showing what he believes to be his sister’s experiences in the demonic woods of the Blair Witch, Blane and a group of friends head to the forest in search of his lost sibling.
Go see it because: The original created a new sub-genre of horror film and we’re big fans of Adam Wingard’s previous film, The Guest.

The Infiltrator
Release date: September 16th
Plot: A U.S. Customs official uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The Young Offenders
Release date: September 16th
Plot: Two teenage boys cycle 160km on stolen bikes pursued by police to find a missing bale of cocaine worth 7 million euro. Set around the real event of Ireland’s biggest cocaine seizure in 2007 of 440 million euro.
Go see it because: We got a preview of it and it’s bloody great. You’ll laugh a lot, identify with some of the characters and this Irish film is it’s a real love letter to Cork.

Bridget Jones’s Baby
Release date: September 16th
Plot: The continuing adventures of British publishing executive Bridget Jones as she enters her 40s
Go see it because: If you’re a fan of the first two films then you know exactly what to expect.

Imperium
Release date: 23 September.
Plot: The true story of FBI agent Nate Foster as he goes undercover to take down a radical white supremacy terrorist group. The up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy.
Go see it because: Daniel Radcliffe is utterly magnetic in the lead role.

The Magnificent Seven
Release date: 23 September
Plot: Seven gun men in the old west gradually come together to help a poor village against savage thieves.
Go see it because: We expect to see some excellent on-screen chemistry between Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke. We’ve been dying for a good a good Western and we’ve got high hopes here.

The Girl with All The Gifts
Release date: September 23rd
Plot: A scientist and a teacher living in a dystopian future embark on a journey of survival with a special young girl named Melanie.
Go see it because: Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy is the man behind the lens and this has been earning rave reviews, most notably a five-star review in Empire.
Free State Of Jones
Release date: September 30
Plot: As civil war divides the nation, a poor farmer from Mississippi leads a group of rebels against the Confederate army.
Go see it because: The McConaissance is showing no signs of slowing down. Alright, alright, alright!

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children
Release date: September 30
Plot: When Jake discovers clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers.
Go see it because: It’s Tim Burton’s latest film and any fans of his will know exactly what to expect.
