It’s coming back…by order of the Peaky Blinders!
In many ways, the finale of Peaky Blinders Season 4 made perfect sense because while some people may have been surprised to see Tommy entering the world of politics, it appears to be a natural progression for the character.
After all, the leader of the Peaky Blinders is ambitious, cunning, methodical, and morally conflicted.
The perfect politician then!
If you subscribe to the belief that all politicians are gangsters, the first image of Tommy Shelby as an MP in Parliament will come as no surprise.

In terms of what fans can expect to see in Season 5, we know that the rise of fascism in Europe and the Wall Street Crash will play a role.
The official synopsis states: “Series five of Steven Knight’s crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.”
To increase the excitement levels, the BBC have shared some very brief new footage of Tommy as he gets to grips with his new job as an MP in Westminster.
In an interview with The Metro, Paul Anderson (Arthur) said that Tommy’s new political position “gives Arthur and his family more power. Tommy is in a position of power, and he can only get stronger in that position. So we’ll all have more cover, we’ll have more opportunity and more protection. And by protection I mean by society and the police and so on. We’ll be able to get away with things under the guise of, ‘we’re politicians, we’re respectable’. But we’ll be able to manipulate things more. Arthur will be even more Arthur. So it will be a lot of fun.”
At present, no official premiere date for Season 5 has been announced. However, Harry Kirton (Finn) has previously said that: “Peaky is probably coming out at the other end of this year. So, September/October time. I’m very excited and you should be too. Finn has to grow up (in the new) season.”
Anthony Byrne, director of Season 5, has also said that the new episodes are ‘getting closer’ as he puts the finishing touches on the final edit.
We can’t wait to see it back on our screens.
