Following on from Will & Grace and Roseanne, another hit 90s show is getting a revival

TV is making a comeback in more ways than one.

Earlier this year, Will & Grace made a modern-day comeback (and effectively rewrote how the original series ended), to massive critical appeal, huge returning audiences, and is even up for a few Golden Globe awards.

Same goes for the upcoming revival of Roseanne, which is due to air in the States from 27 March, which ended back in 1997 with (SPOILERS!) the death of John Goodman’s character. However, here we see a cheeky little trailer for the show, with Goodman right back on the couch, and Roseanne telling him “You can’t live in the past, Dan, once somethings gone, it’s gone.”

Well, the trend continues, as following on from the talk of the return of The Office (as well as very early chat about a return to 30 Rock), TV Line are reporting that the next show lined up for a potential revival is Mad About You.

The show, which initially ran for 7 seasons and ended in 1999, ended with a flash-forward scene set 22 years in the future, to show how the characters had progressed, and had actually been written in to stop the stars from coming back, according to Paul Reiser when he spoke to People about it back in the day:

“Our thinking at the time was, ‘Let’s make sure we never get tempted to come back — let’s tell them what happens.”

Reiser had been AWOL from the acting scene for a while, but his recent appearance in the second season of Stranger Things could signify a career comeback. On the other hand, his Mad About You co-star Helen Hunt went on to win a Best Actress Oscar (for her role in As Good As It Gets), and appeared in big hits like Twister, Cast Away and What Women Want, but has since seen her star power decline.

The new episodes would reportedly involve Reiser and Hunt dealing with empty nest syndrome after their 17-year-old daughter leaves home to go to college.

If the show were to be picked up, it could be on air as early as Autumn 2018.
