SpongeBob an Scannán: Spúinse as Uisce

JOE loves going to see any film in the cinema regardless of the language although our eyesight is like Hans Moleman’s hence we require our glasses.

Our frames though are modelled on SpongeBob’s ‘nerd chic’ look so naturally we’re delighted to learn that his new film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, will be available for the first time through the Irish language in Irish cinemas nationwide.

We’re cinema nerds here in JOE Towers but we think this is the very first time that our own lovely Gaelic focail’s will be heard on the silver screen in a major Hollywood film.

Dubbing work is already well underway in Dublin by local company Macalla Teoranta, the team who dub the popular SpongeBob Squarepants TV series that’s broadcast on TG4, and the first-of-its-kind movie will be released in both Irish and English on March 27th.

We imagine that there’s quite a fair few young Gaelgoir’s and their parents that are very happy with this news.
