Good Burger 2 will shoot this summer.

A sequel to the cult classic comedy movie Good Burger starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell is officially in the works.

Released in 1997, Good Burger was a spin-off of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That and follows two teenagers (Kenan and Kel) who try to save the burger joint they work for from failing. This is after the opening of a brand new burger restaurant across the street, which plans to put them out of business.

While the comedy received mixed reviews from critics, it was a box office hit and has gone on to develop a devoted fan base. This is in particular with millennials who grew up with the movie, All That, and Thompson and Mitchell’s other hit Nickelodeon show Kenan & Kel.

There have been rumours of a potential Good Burger sequel in the works for years. However, it was only during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon at the weekend that Thompson and Mitchell confirmed that a follow-up has been given the green light.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Good Burger, home of the good burger. Part two,” Mitchell told the programme, referencing his character’s catchphrase from the comedy.

Meanwhile, Thompson described the upcoming sequel as a “blessing” and promised that it would feature “a lot of hijinks”.

“We’re going to shoot it this summer and it’ll be out soon… We want as many cameos as we can possibly get, like anybody that wants to do it that I guess is somewhat famous,” he added, before offering Fallon a role in the film, which he accepted.

Following Thompson and Mitchell’s appearance on the talk show, a plot synopsis for the sequel hit the web, which reads:

“Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”

The sequel is set to premiere on Paramount+ later in 2023.
