Often imitated, rarely bettered. John Ford’s Western is a classic.
Megamind – 2:55pm on Film4
One of those animations that falls into the ‘far too clever for the kids to really appreciate” genre. Will Ferrell leads the vocal talent on this caper that’s genuinely worth checking out.
Matilda – 5pm on SyFy
With news of a new Netflix adaptation on the way, now is the perfect time to get reacquainted with Danny DeVito’s heartwarming adaptation of the classic book.
Ice Age: Collision Course – 6.35pm on RTÉ1
When Scrat’s acorn sends an asteroid to Earth, the Herd must find a way to stop the asteroid from hitting Earth with the help of a returning friend.
Let’s be honest, Scrat is the bets thing about these films and more Scrat equals more fun.
Dr No – 6.45pm on ITV4
Mmm, why would Bond’s very first cinematic nemesis be in the press over the last few months? We’re saying nothing.
Johnny English – 8pm on Sky One
For those that fancy a Bond parody.
Jason Bourne – 9pm on Channel 4
Not as good as the three films that came before it – we’re not including the Jeremy Renner-led The Bourne Legacy here – but there’s still plenty to like about Damon’s return to his most famous role.
Arrival – 9pm on Film4
One of the smartest sci-fi films of the decade.
Kingsman: The Secret Service – 9pm on E4
Yep, we’ve had the parody of Bond earlier today, now it’s time for the bonkers homage that embraces all the best slapsticks, gadgets, and O.T.T action that 007 has to offer. That scene in the church really is something else.
Black Hawk Down – 9pm on ITV4
Ridley Scott’s war epic boats one hell of a cast – we’ve written about that before – and his tale of 160 elite U.S. soldiers as they drop into Somalia to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord still packs one hell of a punch.
Coming to America – 9pm on Comedy Central

Yep, the rise of N.W.A is still one of the best musicals of the last decade.
Eagle Eye – 11.05pm on BBC1
Jerry (Shia LaBeouf) and Rachel (Michelle Monaghan) are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.
It’s a rip-off of North by Northwest, The Wrong Man, and The Man Who Knew Too Much, but there’s enough here to enjoy.
Pilgrim Hill – 11.45pm on TG4
Jimmy Walshe is a middle aged farmer living in rural Ireland with his critically ill father. Life has been tough on Jimmy over the years, but things are about to get worse, as his life hits a very rough patch on and off his farm. Very good feature-length debut from Irish director Gerard Barrett.
Warcraft – 11.35pm on Channel 4
It’s not great but it’s really not as bad as people made it out to be.
Total Recall – 11.50pm on ITV4
