There was a huge reaction to The Young Offenders TV show

Paul Moore

Cork’s biggest blaggards are back and people are loving it.

Since Peter Fooot’s film The Young Offenders was released in 2016, the Irish public embraced the crazy antics of Conor and Jock in a way that’s seldom been seen before.

The two lads may have missed out on that €7 million of cocaine but the film did incredibly well at the Irish box-office – it took over €1m in Ireland alone. That can but a lot of choc-ices!

After charming everyone on the festival circuit, the Cork-set comedy found a new lease of life on Netflix as foreign audiences  really embraced Leeside’s loveable langers. After the news that a spin-off TV show was being made, expectations were high and we’re delighted to say that they’ve already been surpassed.

Before the first episode even aired, a second season of the show was already commissioned and it seems that Irish audiences can’t get enough of Conor and Jock.

Idiotic plans, blow up dolls, filthy one-liners, condom machines in the toilets of the secondary school, the worst shift you’ll ever see and Mairead (Hilary Rose) continuing to be the shittest mam in Cork are all here.

The Young Offenders are back and people absolutely loved it.

The excitement was building.

The opening gag on the rooftop got people going. Even the former Lord Mayor of Cork was on board.

About that shifting scene – you have to feel for P.J Gallagher’s poor principal.

Mairead and her ‘no f**ks given’ style of parenting.

Corcaigh Abú. There’s plenty of love for the Rebel County.
