WATCH: Iranian TV very shoddily photoshopped clothes onto Charlize Theron during the Oscars

Yes, this happened at the Oscars…

The 89th Academy Awards were memorable for a number of reasons, first and foremost being the bizarre and embarrassing mix-up that led to La La Land incorrectly being announced as the winner of the Best Picture award.

We just can’t deal with the awkwardness of the whole scene

Iranian-American engineer Anousheh Ansari accepted the award for Best Foreign Language Film, for The Salesman, on behalf of director Asghar Farhadi.

Farhadi initially thought he would not be able to attend the awards on account of the US immigration ban on seven primarily Muslim countries.

Iran is one of the seven countries included on this executive order from US President Donald Trump.

But even when the ban was staved by US courts, Farhadi refused to attend the awards in protest of the initial ban.

The award was presented to Ansari by Charlize Theron and Shirley MacLaine, and it was understandably a huge deal in Iran for one of their own to win the award.

The below segment appeared on Iranian TV, which shows them rather crudely photoshopping clothes onto Theron to cover her shoulders and neckline.

Unfortunately for the TV producers at ILNA TV, the graphics they used were rather rudimentary, and hence the overall effect looked amateurish.

Have a look at the video below…

In a email to The New York Times Women of the World, Masih Alinejad, who runs the My Stealthy Freedom Facebook page stated: “This is the Islamic Republic of Iran which forces girls as young as age seven to be covered up.”

“While many of us, including Americans, are expressing our opposition to Trump’s Muslim ban, we also have to be louder and clearer about our condemnation of Islamic Republic of Iran’s ban on women who can’t enter Iran without hijab.

“Women from all religions and cultures, many of whom are flogged and imprisoned inside Iran for not wearing ‘proper hijab.’”

This is the dress Theron wore to the Oscars…
