It looks like Netflix have just announced the new Wild Mountain Thyme

Irish Wish

And it’s releasing just in time for Paddy’s Day.

Cast your mind back to December 2020, when Irish Twitter was fueled by terrible accents and awful Paddywhackery from Wild Mountain Thyme – a delightful distraction from what was going on at the time.

Thankfully, Netflix are going full throttle with another Oirish flick, looking to take over from the Emily Blunt starring rom-com, and it stars none other than Lindsay Lohan.

The romantic comedy fantasy, Irish Wish, is set in “the rolling green moors of Ireland” and stars Lohan as a heartbroken bridesmaid at an Irish wedding, who wakes up in a very surprising situation after her magic wish comes true.

It looks like Netflix have just announced the new Wild Mountain Thyme

Netflix’s synopsis for Irish Wish reads: “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride — unless, of course, your best friend gets engaged to the love of your life, you make a spontaneous wish for true love, and then magically wake up as the bride-to-be.

“That’s the supernatural, romantic pickle Lindsay Lohan finds herself in upcoming romantic comedy, Irish Wish. Set in the rolling green moors of Ireland, the movie sees Lohan’s Maddie learn her dreams for true love might not be what she imagined and that her soulmate may well be a different person than she originally expected. Apparently magic wishes are quite insightful.”

The movie also stars Ayesha Curry, Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos and Jane Seymour. It’s worth noting that none of these stars are Irish, so we’re already on fertile ground for dodgy accents.

There is a few Irish actors dotted around the IMDB castlist, but it looks like none are going to be in the main cast, so it may not be the best representation of us over here on the Emerald Isle.

The film is part of Lohan’s two-film partnership with Netflix, which also sees her star in Falling for Christmas, arriving in November.

Both films are directed by Janeen Damian, who has also directed such holiday-related flicks as Much Ado About Christmas, Paris Christmas Waltz, The Christmas Waltz and A Princess For Christmas. We have full confidence in her jumping across genres to the slightly more niche Irish-films-for-American-audiences.

Fire up Irish Twitter, we’re now fully bracing for the trailer release.

Netflix have also announced that actual Irish actor Andrew Scott will be starring alongside Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close in upcoming American action-comedy Back In Action.
