New shocking true crime documentary series to air on TV next week

Each season of the show shines a spotlight on a different criminal investigation that took place in Scotland, giving audiences a unique insight into the workings of the country's courts and justice system.

Death of a Dog Walker focuses on the killing of Brian Low in February 2024 in the small rural town of Aberfeldy.

A former country estate groundsman, Mr Low was found dead by a fellow dog walker. Several days later, it was discovered that he had been shot.

His neighbour and ex-gamekeeper, David Campbell (pictured above), was then charged with his murder.

"Battling the potential missed forensic opportunities, the prosecution lead a circumstantial case, attempting to link multiple smaller strands of evidence to build a picture of a decades-old feud between victim and accused and how it led to a pre-meditated murder," the BBC's plot synopsis for the documentary reads.

"With no witnesses to the incident itself and no direct forensics connecting the accused to the deceased, the defence’s role is to expose flaws in the evidence. They will tear apart the prosecution’s timeline – and target flaws in the evidence of the victim’s own partner, Pam Curran.

"With both sides also relying on vital witness testimony from fellow country estate workers and neighbours, the trial will paint for the jury a picture of a small community ripped apart by old grudges and secrets surfacing in the wake of a killing.

"As the victim’s family await justice, the accused awaits his fate."

Republic of Ireland viewers can watch the first part of Murder Trial: Death of a Dog Walker on Wednesday, 12 August on BBC Two at 9pm.

The second part will air at the same time the following week.

For UK viewers, both episodes will premiere on BBC iPlayer on Tuesday, 11 August at 6am.
