The film has a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score, but be warned, it's not for the faint of heart.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Monday, 19 October) is Titane, the 2021 French psychological horror drama that is easily one of the best films of the decade so far.

Written and directed by Julia Ducournau (Raw), the story centres around Alexia (played as an adult by a striking Agathe Rousselle in her feature debut). She is a murderous car model and dancer who has become fixated with automobiles after a childhood accident.

On the run for her crimes and pregnant, she evades detection by pretending to be the grown-up version of a boy who disappeared ten years previously.

She then seeks refuge with the missing child's firefighter father, Vincent (French acting legend Vincent Lindon).

Co-starring Garance Marillier (Raw), Titane premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where it won the top prize. The movie currently holds a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score.

It's easy to see why the film is so acclaimed. The combination of Ducournau's visceral direction and her impossible-to-predict screenplay - which uses body horror to explore themes of gender, identity, love, and transformation - makes for a truly unforgettable watch.

Be warned, however, Titane is filled with gory, often surreal violence. It's not for the faint of heart.

Titane is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on Film4 at 1.50am. It should also be available to stream on Channel 4's website after it airs.

Here are the other movies airing on TV tonight:

Shaun of the Dead - Film4 - 9pm

The first, and critically acclaimed, instalment in Edgar Wright's beloved Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.

A cult-comedy classic.

The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) - Legend - 9pm

Another remake of the celebrated 1974 action flick.

With Tony Scott directing, and Denzel Washington and John Travolta in the lead roles, it's well worth a watch.

Hunter Killer - Legend Xtra - 9pm

A decent popcorn flick, starring Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman.

Rocky V - ITV4 - 10pm

The least celebrated of the first five Rocky movies, but essential viewing for any fans of the series.

Rocketman - TG4 - 10.30pm

Taron Egerton stars as the legendary piano/pop singer Elton John.

Definitely one of the better biopics from the last decade.

Big Trouble in Little China - Film4 - 10.55pm

John Carpenter's action-comedy film about tough truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell), who gets caught up in a supernatural battle beneath San Francisco’s Chinatown. When his friend’s fiancée is kidnapped by an ancient sorcerer, Jack joins forces with a martial arts expert to rescue her, facing mystical powers, monsters, and ancient Chinese magic along the way.

A wild mix of martial arts, fantasy, and ’80s humour, the film follows an unlikely hero who’s way out of his depth.

Selma - BBC Two - 11.05pm

Historical drama that follows Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement’s campaign for equal voting rights in 1965.

The film focuses on the marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, where peaceful protesters face violent opposition as they challenge racial discrimination. Their struggle helps build public support for the Voting Rights Act, highlighting the courage, sacrifice, and determination behind a pivotal moment in American history.

Beyond Suspicion (2018) - Legend Xtra - 11.30pm

After getting released from prison, Danny Gallagher, a former narcotics officer, sets out to seek revenge on the person who framed him and killed his partner.

Karl Urban and Andy Garcia star.

Yesterday - BBC One - 12am

Danny Boyle directs this romantic comedy, about a young man who wakes up one day and realises he is the only person who remembers The Beatles.
