J.J. Abrams auctions off the plot to Star Wars Episode IX to one fan for charity

The movie isn't due out until December 2019

One lucky person will be “The King Of The Nerds” for the next two years.

As part of HBO’s one-off charity special The Night Of Too Many Stars, host Jon Stewart was joined on stage by a shocking number of special guests, including but not limited to… (deep breath)…

Sarah Silverman, Kumail Nanjiani, Steve Carell, Andy Samberg, Paul Rudd, Olivia Munn, Ellie Kemper, John Mulaney, Howie Mandel, Will Forte, Billy Crystal, John Oliver, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock and Ben Stiller.

However, one of the big highlights of the night was when writer, producer and director J.J. Abrams came out on stage, and as part of the charity fundraising event, offered to whisper the plot to Star Wars Episode IX – which Abrams will direct after original director Colin Trevorrow was fired – to one lucky fan.

The auction kicked off incredibly well, but soon Abrams was joined on stage by actor and comedian Rob Corddry, who offered to throw in the ending to Hot Tub Time Machine 3, too, because as Corddry puts it “Not everybody likes Star Wars”.

And then, right as the winning bidder, who paid $10,000 for the privilege, is getting the plot to both of these upcoming masterpieces, they are all joined by Gilbert Gottfried, who offers to give away the plot to Sharknado 5, with the fact that that movie being out since August not being much of a deterrent.
