The remake of the classic 80s action movie has an incredible team working on it.
Released in 1989, right in the middle of Peak Patrick Swayze Hotness - it arrives after Dirty Dancing, but before Ghost and Point Break - there is a lot of love for Road House.
The story of a "cooler" - aka a very hands-on bouncer - with a mysterious past, it is one of those iconic action movies that Hollywood has been toying with remaking for decades.
However, today it has been confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal will headline the updated version, and he's being joined by an incredible creative team for the project.
The movie will be directed by Doug Liman (Edge Of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), produced by Joel Silver (The Matrix, Die Hard) and written by Anthony Bargozzi (The Nice Guys).
As if the behind-the-camera talent was impressive enough, Gyllenhaal's co-stars include Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Hannah Love Lanier (A Black Lady Sketch Show) and Travis Van Winkle (You).
The movie is set to be filmed in the Dominican Republic later this month, with the official plot synopsis for the remake as follows:
"A former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise."
On the project, Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon Studios, had the following to say:
"Road House is a homerun for us. Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie. We are thrilled to collaborate with Joel, Doug, and this great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, and for them to come together to reimagine the classic MGM film as an action-packed adventure for our global audience."
We could show you a trailer of the original movie, but instead, we'll let Andy (Chris Pratt) from Parks & Rec act it out in its entirety instead...
