The Simpsons are going to kill off one of the show’s oldest and most popular characters? Say it ain’t so Krusty…

Sceptics might say that the news barely registered because the show isn’t nearly as good as it used to be and hasn’t been for years, but huge Simpsons fans that we are in the office, we were still slightly saddened to learn that Krusty the Clown is likely to meet his maker in the current series.

Show runner Al Jean all but confirmed Krusty’s imminent demise at a Television Critics Association event recently, so Simpsons fans – those who still watch the show, of course – should appreciate the hard living, rude, lazy, often controversial but still lovable clown for as long as they can until he kicks the bucket in the near future.

One could argue that it is the strength of the secondary characters that made The Simpsons so great in the first place and along with the likes of Moe, Mr. Burns, Mayor Quimby, Chief Wiggum, Apu, Otto, Lenny and Karl and many, many more, Krusty has had numerous memorable moments down through the years.

In no particular order, we’ve recapped some of our favourites below – feel free to add in some of your own in the comments box – so before we bid him goodbye, why not say one last ‘Hey, Hey’ and revisit some Klassic Krusty Komedy Klips from Simpsons episodes past.

Enjoy.
