Chad Stahelski dream John Wick 5 casting

The John Wick universe could be getting some Irish flair.

Following the massive success of John Wick: Chapter 4, director Chad Stahelski is jumping right into a potential follow-up and he’s got some Irish actors in mind for his dream casting.

With spinoffs including The Continental and Ballerina starring Ana de Armas coming up, Stahelski says he wants to give John Wick himself a bit of a rest, but there’s certainly ideas already floating around for the next movie.

Asked about his dream casting in an interview with The Direct, Stahelski had some great names on hand, including two big Irish stars.

“There’s a huge list, but just the first thing that came to mindset was Cillian Murphy. I’m a big Peaky Blinders fan. So, you know, I just think Cillian would fit right in. Colin Farrell is fantastic. Charlize Theron when she did Atomic Blonde, I saw that went, ‘Oh my God, I gotta work with this woman. She’s awesome.’ I worked with Michelle Yeoh way back on a commercial years ago, and I’ve been dying to work with her ever since. I’m such a huge fan.”

The director had a good few more names on his list, including Jurnee Smollett, Robert Downey Jr., Peter Dinklage and Sean Bean.

“There’s a lot, I mean, there are so many great people out there, man. If Robert Downey happened to sit in my chair right here, I’d figure that one out. Peter Dinklage, I was a huge fan of his in ‘Game of Thrones.’ Sean Bean. Some of those guys I think are magical. I’d die for a chance with any of those people.”

How could Cillian Murphy and Colin Farrell fit into the John Wick world?

Thinking of Cillian Murphy in John Wick, we immediately look to possible villain roles and there’s a million different directions his character could go. However, we have to agree with The Direct’s suggestion of Murphy being a member of the mysterious high table. Those piercing blue eyes would be perfect for a villain reveal.

As for Farrell? Maybe a return to his old-school action hero status as a fellow assassin. We’d love to see him grow out the locks and mustache again in a return to his Miami Vice look.
