Just a week after Saoirse Ronan's, uhm, comedically uneven appearance on the show, the final episode of the year is fronted by Kevin Hart, there to promote his new movie Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, and also to remind America (and the world) that he is a very funny comedian when he really goes for it.
His opening monologue consisted of a lot of Dad-jokes, although by that we don't meant terrible/terribly funny jokes that only Dads seem to make, but more a number zingers about what it feels like to have a brand new baby when you thought the "New Baby" part of your life was over and done with.
However, out of all of the sketches he took part in across the night, the best one is probably Office Phone Call.
In it, Hart plays a member of staff in an office, who takes a phone call that sounds like a family emergency, but everyone else in the office thinks that he is constantly just making this excuse up so he won't be embarrassed to go to the bathrom.
This results in something of an intestinal stand-off, with Hart refusing to admit he needs to go, while his co-workers (including two of the all-female Ghostbusters cast) try to make him feel comfortable about, y'know, going.
Listen, poop jokes aren't exactly the most intelligent way to get jokes, but when they're done right, they can be hilarious.
