The trailer has been released for Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, a new version of Quentin Tarantino's martial arts epic Kill Bill, which is coming to cinemas next month.
Kill Bill was initially released as two volumes in 2003 and 2004. Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction) starred in both as The Bride, an assassin left for dead.
This was after her former boss and lover, Bill (David Carradine), ambushed her wedding rehearsal, shot her in the head and stole her unborn child.
To exact her vengeance, The Bride hunts down the four remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (including Daryl Hannah and Lucy Liu) before confronting Bill himself.
Inspired by both 1970s exploitation films and martial arts movies, Tarantino initially planned for Kill Bill to be a single release.
Yet, because of the long four-hour runtime, the story ended up being divided into two volumes, so that the filmmaker did not have to cut any scenes.
That said, the writer-director has always thought of the two volumes as one long movie.
Huge hits upon release, both at the box office and with critics, Tarantino is now finally releasing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, a cut of Kill Bill that unites Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.
The new version of the action classic is described as "a single, unrated epic—presented exactly as [Tarantino] intended, complete with a new, never-before-seen anime sequence".
281 minutes in length, with a 15-minute intermission, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will arrive in cinemas in Ireland and the UK on 5 December.
