Love/Hate’s Nidge starring in Avengers: Infinity War is just as terrifying as you would imagine

Ebony Maw Avengers

We really wish Tom Vaughan-Lawlor said this in the film.

Despite the fact that his performance and character were entirely done via CGI motion capture, there’s no denying that Love/Hate star Tom Vaughan-Lawlor left a lasting impression in Avengers: Infinity War.

As fans of the film will know, the man most famously known as Nidge played Ebony Maw in the MCU blockbuster and his scenes at the start of the film in New York were an absolute joy.

In case you’re not familiar with Vaughan-Lawlor’s character in the film, here he is.

Like a tyrannical mix of a dandy butler, sinister schoolteacher and demented acolyte, the Irish actor really left his mark as he went to-to-toe, and blow-to-blow, with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Barnoldswick Cumbercooch (Doctor Strange), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man).

When JOE’s Eoghan Doherty got to interview the Russo brothers (directors of Infinity War) about their decision to work with the Irish actor, they said that he was cast because “he’s an amazing actor that embodied the character Ebony Maw. The character needed a sense of humour and Tom is stealing every scene that he’s in. As soon as we saw his audition, we knew that he was the guy.”

They were right.

Well, after seeing this footage of Nidge’s iconic dialogue overlapping with Ebony Maw’s scenes in Infinity War, the character is a little bit more terrifying.

Take a look.
