A remake of the 1990 cult classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which itself was based on a Philip K. Dick short story, the Irishman plays Douglas Quaid, a factory worker in a future, war-torn Earth.
Needing a vacation from his ordinary life, Quaid visits Rekall, a company that can turn dreams into real memories.
"Thinking that memories of life as a superspy are just the ticket, Quaid undergoes the procedure -- but it goes horribly wrong," the plot synopsis adds.
"Suddenly, Quaid is a hunted man. He teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) on a search to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and take down the leader of the free world (Bryan Cranston)."
While the 2012 Total Recall strips away some of the original's humour, violence and appealing weirdness, Farrell does make for a more convincing everyman than Arnie, and some of the remake's action and world-building works quite well.
Also co-starring Kate Beckinsale, the Colin Farrell version of Total Recall is airing on the channel Legend at 9pm.
It's also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, Rakuten TV, and the Sky Store.
