Marvel boss thinks that Spider-Man and Venom ‘seem likely’ to crossover in a new film

Tom Hardy vs Tom Holland. Bring it on.

Now that we’re on our third big screen adaptation of Spider-Man – four if you count the outstanding Into the Spider-Verse – it’s fair to say that Tom Holland is the best Peter Parker.

Hear us out.

Not only does he perfect the wonderful balance of geeky and cool, but Holland also looks like he genuinely is a teenager that just loves what he’s doing.

Oh yeah, it also helps that his performances in Civil War, Infinity War, Homecoming, and Endgame have been outstanding. For those that might argue that point, take a look at the scenes that he shares with Tony Stark.

Enough said.

However, now that the MCU is entering a brand new stage and film fans are entering brand new territory with the merger between Disney and Fox, it’s going to be a very curious few weeks to see what’s coming up in the MCU.

At this time, we have to ring the boring studio news klaxon.

As you may know, Sony has historically held the rights to Spider-Man and his villains, with two separate franchises happening in the 2000’s – Sam Raimi and Marc Webb directing those films.

However, the studio made a deal with Marvel in 2015, allowing Spider-Man to make his way to the Marvel universe but Sony didn’t hang around to cry over Spidey.

Instead, they cast Tom Hardy to launch their next villain-centric blockbuster and that decision proved to be astute because Venom ended up making a whopping $855 million.

A sequel is coming but what about a potential crossover between both characters?

During a recent chat with ScreenRant, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige thinks that a crossover “seems likely at some point” but that decision is Sony’s.

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

Whatever happens, we really hope that it doesn’t end up being another case of Spider-Man 3.

As for the wall crawler, Peter Parker returns to Irish cinemas in Spider-Man: Far From Home on 2 July.
