A new crime thriller series from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque will land on streaming next week.

Available to stream in Ireland and the UK on Paramount+, the nine-part show is titled M.I.A. The story follows Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela, Strip Law), a young woman who is "restless in the Florida Keys and dreams of a life in Miami’s glittering, subtropical kingdom".

But when her family's drug-running business shatters in tragedy, she embarks on a dangerous journey through the city's neon-lit underbelly.

"With the help of her new friends Lovely (Brittany Adebumola, Grand Army) and Stanley (Dylan T Jackson, Godfather of Harlem), Etta sets out to take down one of the city's most powerful cartels," the plot synopsis adds.

"As the cartel's ambitions threaten Miami and internal rivalries erupt, her pursuit for revenge will push her to the edge, defining who she is and what she's ultimately capable of."

The series is created and written by Bill Dubuque, who is also known for penning The Accountant films starring Ben Affleck. Karen Campbell (Dexter, Outlander) also serves as showrunner and writer on the project.

Alethea Jones (High Potential, Peacemaker) will direct the series' first two episodes, with Ben Semanoff (Black Rabbit) and John Dahl (Red Rock West) also helming subsequent episodes.

M.I.A will be released in its entirety on Paramount+ in Ireland and the UK on Thursday, 7 May.
