An action classic is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

It went on to spawn four sequels.

Looking for something to watch this Tuesday evening?

Well, Amazon Prime Video has just added 19 big movies to its library.

However, if none of these are for you, here are the films on the telly tonight.

First Blood – ITV4 – 9pm

In our pick for tonight, troubled and misunderstood Vietnam War veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) must rely on his combat and survival skills when a series of brutal events results in him being pursued by police in a small American town.

While it went on to inspire a number of more action-packed sequels, this first entry in the Rambo franchise remains the best thanks to its greater emphasis on character and realism and because of its exploration of the effects of war.

Jack Reacher – Sky Showcase – 9pm

Tom Cruise’s first outing as author Lee Child’s most famous creation is immensely watchable.

Donnie Brasco – Great! Movies Classic – 9pm

Al Pacino and Johnny Depp star in this terrific crime drama that we recommended just last week here.

Fool’s Gold – Comedy Central – 9pm

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey reunite for this action comedy romance flick.

Zombieland: Double Tap – Film4 – 9pm

The long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s hit zombie comedy.

US Marshals – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Tommy Lee Jones reprises the character he won an Oscar playing in The Fugitive for this mediocre spin-off.

The Innkeepers – Legend – 10.50pm

Two employees at an inn (Pat Healy and Sara Paxton) attempt to document the alleged supernatural activity in the building in this slow burn horror from filmmaker Ti West (this year’s X).

Step Brothers – Film4 – 11pm

John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell star in this modern comedy classic.

The Workshop – BBC Two – 11.15pm

This acclaimed French drama centres around a writing workshop run by a well-known novelist for a group of young people.

National Lampoon’s European Vacation – Turner Classic Movies – 11.45pm

The Griswold family wins an all-expense-paid trip to Europe in this comedy sequel.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
