Movies on TV Friday 15 October

Ladies and gentlemen, the weekend has landed.

And you know what that means.

It’s Friday night – 15 October – so the schedules must be reacting accordingly and making a proper box office evening out of it, right?

Well, let’s see…

The Italian Job – Virgin Media One – 9pm

The remake, featuring Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron.

Terminator Genisys – Film4 – 9pm

The fifth one. Not good!

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story – E4 – 9pm

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge again.

Primal Fear – RTÉ 2 – 9.45pm

Our lead choice this evening.

Edward Norton received a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nomination for his debut role here in this enjoyably trashy ’90s crime thriller.

Richard Gere plays a lawyer obsessed with the spotlight. When a high-profile murder case comes his way involving Norton’s troubled altar boy, it seems open-and-shut. Only, there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface.

Pitch Black – ITV4 – 11pm

Vin Diesel’s first appearance as the gravel-voiced Richard B. Riddick.

Halloween – BBC One – 11.25pm

The 2018 reboot, which you might want to catch ahead of Halloween Kills.

Warning: The new one is one of the most violent films in years, according to JOE’s own Rory Cashin.

The Beach Bum – Film4 – 11.25pm

Slacker-poet Matthew McConaughey searches for meaning in a far-out comedy.

The Mission – RTÉ One – 11.45pm

Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons lead the way in this acclaimed period drama.

Top Five – Film4 – 1.15am

Chris Rock weighs up his dating options in a knowing rom-com.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
