Released in 2020, it has an 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix has just added a very dark and twisty thriller movie but if that’s not for you, here are the films airing on TV this Friday night (16 February):

Save Yourselves! – Film4 – 9pm

Our pick for this evening is this 2020 sci-fi comedy about a 30-something millennial couple (John Paul Reynolds and Sunita Mani) who decide to disconnect from their Internet-obsessed superficial lives in Brooklyn by turning off their phones for a week and staying at a remote cabin.

During this time, however, the world is invaded by aliens.

Praised by critics upon release for its performances, its social commentary and its blend of sincerity and silliness, Save Yourselves! has an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Save Yourselves! is also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store. Check out its trailer right here:

The Fan – Legend – 9pm

The underseen sports thriller starring Robert De Niro and Wesley Snipes that we recommended last week.

Jumanji: The Next Level – E4 – 9pm

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart return in this fantasy adventure sequel.

National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1 – Comedy Central – 9pm

A ’90s action comedy parody starring Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson.

Rawhide – TG4 – 9.35pm

Friday night is Western night on TG4. This ’50s one stars Tyrone Power.

The Perfect Storm – RTÉ2 – 10pm

A biographical disaster drama starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg.

The Thing – Film4 – 10.50pm

Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter (The Fog, Halloween) directs this movie about a group of American researchers in Antarctica (including Kurt Russell) whose base is invaded by a shape-shifting and replicating alien force. It is widely considered one of the best horrors ever.

Little Fockers – Channel 4 – 11.05pm

The third, final and worst entry in the Ben Stiller/Robert De Niro fronted comedy franchise.

Mermaids – RTÉ One – 11.15pm
