An entertaining Heat knock-off is among the movies on TV tonight

Look, if you're going to steal, steal from the best...

Hey hey, it's Wednesday.

The weather is potentially horrific.

Stay inside, watch a movie.

Here's how it looks on the box on Wednesday, 27 October...

Exodus: Gods and Kings – Film4 – 6.05pm

Ridley Scott delivers a Biblical epic with Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.

Den of Thieves – Film4 – 9pm

Our main choice this evening.

Now, we don't want to accuse anyone of anything but we'd bet the house that Christian Gudegast, writer and director of 2018 action thriller Den of Thieves, is a huge fan of Heat.

Who isn't, in fairness? Den of Thieves is basically a 'nowhere near as good' clone but it is nonetheless highly entertaining thanks to committed performances from Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber and O'Shea Jackson Jr.

And then you have the whole 'heist' element, which is done quite well. You know how this one works – good guy and bad guy who are almost the same person clash. Violence and twists ensue.

Maximum Risk – Turner Classic Movies – 11.35pm

Vintage '90s Van Damme nonsense.

Trespass Against Us – Film4 – 11.45pm

Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson face off in a tense crime drama.

Zero Dark Thirty – ITV4 – 11.45pm

Jessica Chastain leads the charge in bringing Osama Bin Laden down.
