One of the most underrated horrors of the 21st century is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

30 Days of Night

It features one of the all-time great horror premises.

Prime Video has just added 14 big movies to its streaming library but if none of these are for you, here is what is on telly this Monday evening (24 April).

Jaws – ITV4 – 9pm

Steven Spielberg’s breakthrough monster movie remains one of the greatest films ever made.

Air Force One – Film4 – 9pm

Imagine Die Hard but it was set on the US President’s plane and that president itself fulfilled the John McClane role. Harrison Ford stars. It is pretty great.

Above the Law – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

This ’80s crime thriller was Steven Seagal’s film debut and is one of the action star’s better movies.

The One – Legend – 9pm

A 2001 action flick that sees Jet Li enter the multiverse. Jason Statham is also there for support. 13% on Rotten Tomatoes means you should probably avoid this.

A Good Woman is Hard to Find – Horror Xtra – 9pm

In contrast, this crime thriller starring Irish actress Sarah Bolger as a young recently widowed mother seeking the truth about her husband’s murder has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Boy Erased – TG4 – 10.15pm

This well-reviewed biographical drama follows the son (Lucas Hedges) of Baptist parents (Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe) who is forced to take part in a conversion therapy program.

30 Days of Night – Legend – 10.45pm

Our pick for tonight revolves around a sheriff (Josh Hartnett) and his wife (Melissa George) whose Alaskan town is plagued by vicious vampires (led by Danny Huston) during its 30-day-long polar night.

Based on the comic book miniseries of the same name, 30 Days of Night boasts a great premise, plenty of atmosphere, visceral gory action and a truly unique depiction of vampires that made them scary again.

While the horror was a hit upon release in 2007, critics at the time weren’t hugely kind to the movie. That said, it has gone on to develop a cult legion of fans.
