With Harrison Ford’s final outing as Indiana Jones arriving in theatres this week, what better time to revisit the second movie about the archaeologist adventurer?
Hard to Kill – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
This ’90s action flick sees Steven Seagal play a cop that is… hard to kill.
Johnny Handsome – Legend – 9pm
Legendary filmmaker Walter Hill (48 Hrs, The Warriors) directs Mickey Rourke in this crime thriller about a criminal who, after being given a new identity by reconstructive surgery, seeks out revenge against the crooks that double-crossed him.
Snowden – TG4 – 9.30pm
Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays whistleblower Edward Snowden in this biographical thriller directed by Oliver Stone (JFK, Platoon).
Isabelle Fuhrman in our pick for tonight – The Novice
Hot Fuzz – ITV4 – 10pm
Director Edgar Wright and actors Nick Frost and Simon Pegg reunited after Shaun of the Dead for this now-classic action comedy about two cops investigating a series of mysterious deaths in an idyllic English village.
The Miseducation of Cameron Post – BBC Three – 10pm
This drama takes place in the ’90s and follows a teenage girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) that is forced into a gay conversion therapy center by her conservative guardians.
Hell is for Heroes – Turner Classic Movies – 11pm
This ’60s WWII drama stars Steve McQueen (Bullitt) and comes from director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry).
The Last Right – BBC Two – 11.15pm
The Haunting of Hill House’s Michiel Huisman stars in this Irish comedy-drama as a man who travels from his home in New York to Clonakilty in Cork for his mother’s funeral, before getting swept up in an adventure.
The Novice – Film4 – 11.20pm
Last but not least is our pick for tonight which follows a young woman (Isabelle Fuhrman, Orphan) who joins her university’s rowing team and becomes obsessed with making it to the top varsity boat, no matter the cost.
Released in 2021, this debut feature from writer-director Lauren Hadaway earned rave reviews from critics, earning a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score. In particular, Hadaway’s immersive direction, Fuhrman’s intense performance and the psychological sports drama’s depiction of competitive obsession were singled out for praise.
