Movies on TV Thursday 7 October

One step closer to the weekend…

Why not while away the hours with a movie or perhapsĀ movies?

Here’s what’s available on Thursday, 7 October…

Hidden Figures ā€“ Film4 ā€“ 6.30pm

Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle MonaƩ star in this Oscar-nominated fact-based drama about three mathematicians who made a huge contribution to the Space Race in 1960s America.

Casino Royale ā€“ ITV4 ā€“ 9pm

The 2006 vintage and thus where it all began for Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Now that all five of his films are out there, it’s time to ask the question ā€“ is Casino Royale the very best one?

This writer would argue that yes, yes it is. Skyfall a close second. Quantum of Solace in third. No Time To Die in fourth and Spectre dead last.

But that’s just my opinion. Here’s another ā€“ watch Casino Royale tonight, it’s great fun.

Fire With Fire ā€“ Turner Classic Movies / TCM ā€“ 9pm

I’m not going to lie to you, dear reader. I’ve never heard of this film.

However, it sounds alright, maybe?

“A fireman witnesses a murder committed by a white supremacist, and is placed under police protection. He falls in love with his FBI minder, but she is badly injured when his identity is exposed, leaving him convinced that the only way they will be safe from the killer is if he takes the law into his own hands.”

I mean, that sounds dramatic as hell. And it’s got Bruce Willis in it, alongside Josh Duhamel and Rosario Dawson. What more do you want?

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ā€“ Film4 ā€“ 9pm

The fourth one.

And the worst one by a considerable distance, we think you’ll agree.

Allied ā€“ Film4 ā€“ 11.25pm

World War II drama in which secret agents Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard fall in love.

But are they who claim to be?

The Matrix ā€“ ITV4 ā€“ 12.05am

Keanu Reeves is The One.
