Movies on TV tonight - Pulp Fiction

It’s probably one of the most quotable films in history.

Work may be back tomorrow for many, but that’s no reason not to close out the Bank Holiday weekend with a great flick. Kicking off the month of May, Netflix have a heap of great movies and shows coming our way. There’s also a great choice of movies on TV tonight.

Our pick for the evening is going to be a favourite for a lot of movies fans. Have a look below at the options on the telly for this Monday evening.

The Karate Kid – Film4 – 6.15pm

Karate kicking off the movies on TV tonight is the iconic 1984 martial-arts drama. The film centres around a young kid who is thought karate by Mr. Miyagi to help defend himself and compete in a tournament against his bullies.

Battle: Los Angeles – Great! Movies – 6.45pm

If you’re in the mood for a giant alien invasion movie then look no further than this 2011 sci-fi flick starring Aaron Eckhart as a Marine Sergeant defending LA from a hostile extraterrestrial force. Ne-Yo also stars for some reason – it’s all very 2011.

Pitch Perfect – ITV2 – 8pm

Kicking off the trilogy is this 2012 entry about an all-girl university a cappella group, the Barden Bellas, as they compete against another group from their college to win Nationals. Starring an ensemble cast including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Brittany Snow and Elizabeth Banks.

Rambo III – ITV4 – 9pm

The Vietnam vet is back once again, this time mounting a one-man mission to rescue his friend Colonel Trautman from the clutches of the formidable invading Soviet forces in Afghanistan. At the time of its release in 1988, Rambo III was the most expensive film ever made. It’s the last film in the series before its 2008 sequel.

Odd Thomas – Horror Channel – 9pm

The late, great Anton Yelchin stars in this 2013 mystery thriller based on the book of the same name by Dean Koontz. Set in a California desert town where a psychic encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.

Infinite – Film4 – 9pm

Kind of like The Matrix, but nowhere near as good, Infinite stars Mark Wahlberg as a man who discovers that his hallucinations are actually visions from past lives.

Lethal Weapon 4 – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Richard Donner’s final film before his death, Lethal Weapon 4 follows LAPD Sergeants Riggs and Murtaugh as they go up against the deadly Chinese triads. Jet Li makes his international debut.

No Time to Die – RTÉ1 – 9.30pm

If you’re caught up in the current rumour mill of who the next James Bond could be, then there’s no better time to watch Daniel Craig starring in his fifth and final portrayal of the iconic MI6 agent as he’s recruited by the CIA to find a kidnapped scientist.

Pulp Fiction – TG4 – 9.30pm

Our pick of the movies on TV  tonight is one of the most iconic films of the 90’s and is probably responsible for single-handedly keeping the film poster industry alive – it’s Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 crime flick Pulp Fiction.

Starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, and Uma Thurman, the crime classic follows several interconnected stories around the city of LA which all overlap and offer different points of view throughout the movie.

Probably one of the most quotable films of all time, there’s never not a good time to watch or re-watch this Tarantino classic. All of a sudden I’m very hungry for a Royale with Cheese.

The Road Dance – BBC2 – 11pm

A Scottish drama centering on a young girl living in the Outer Hebrides in the years just before WWI. Isolated and hard by the shore, her life takes a dramatic change when a terrible tragedy befalls her.

Blue Steel – Film4 – 11.05pm

This 90’s Kathryn Bigalow thriller stars Jamie Lee Curtis as a rookie cop who gets embroiled in a cat and mouse game with a psychopath who becomes obsessed with her.

Super 8 – Great! Movies – 11.15pm

Directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, Super 8 follows a group of kids in 1979 who are filming their own movie when a train derails, releasing a dangerous presence into their town.

Halloween II – Turner Classic Movies – 11.40pm

Not the finest hour of Michael Myers’ long slashing career, the sequel to the iconic 1978 flick sees Jamie Lee Curtis reprise her role as Laurie Strode as she is once again hunted by the masked psychopath.

Mickey and the Bear – Film4 – 1.10am

With a 100% approval rating Rotten Tomatoes, This 2019 drama about a teen trying to keep her household afloat as she struggles to take care of her addict father is a sure bet for anyone looking for a deep coming-of-age story.
