Steve Martin reveals Only Murders season three release date

Our return to the Arconia draws near.

Only Murders in the Building star Steve Martin has seemingly revealed the release date for season 3 of the popular mystery series.

According to Variety, the secret was shared during his You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today! comedy tour in Florida, alongside co-star Martin Short. While discussing the show on stage and showing pictures of their co-stars, Martin told the audience to “Catch the new season August 8.”

The information was followed by Short responding, “Our show is like Steve trying to pee – it streams for 33 minutes.”

Only Murders stars both Martin and Short alongside Selena Gomez as three residents of the Arconia, an upper class apartment complex in New York City. While bonding over their love of true crime podcasts, the trio set out so solve mysteries throughout the building.

The first season, which released in 2021, was nominated for 17 Emmy awards, winning three. The second season also received widespread acclaim and is expected to rake in a similar haul.

What we know about series 3 of Only Murders in the Building

With the date now seemingly confirmed, the countdown is on until Only Murders returns to Disney+. We already have some information about the upcoming season, with some big guest stars set to join the cast.

The show has a history of bringing in some big names in guest roles including Nathan Lane (who won an Emmy for his performance as Teddy Dimas), Tina Fey, Amy Schumer and Amy Ryan.

The third season follows that trend with both Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd joining the cast.

Rudd appeared in the ending of season 2, as the show jumped forward a year to a production directed by Short’s Oliver Putnam taking place. He plays Ben Glenroy, an actor who is mysteriously murdered during the opening night of the show, which will form the mystery for season 3.

Streep’s role in the show is being kept under wraps.
