A very fun Denzel Washington film is among the movies on TV tonight
Laughs and explosions and Denzel Washington... nobody could ask for more.
For your Thursday evening, you could choose from one of the best serial killer thrillers shows of recent years which has just been added to Disney+, or one of 2023's most entertaining movies which has just been added to Netflix, or one of the movies on TV, starting with:
A Knight's Tale - FilmFour - 6.20pm
Heath Ledger headlines this fun action adventure set within the world of medieval jousting tournament.
Judgment at Nuremburg - BBC Four - 9pm
An all-star cast (Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, William Shatner, Montgomery Clift) features in this 1961, Oscar-winning drama telling the true story of an American court in 1948 occupied Germany as it tries four Nazis judged for war crimes.
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment - Comedy Central - 9pm
The second of the seven Police Academy movies, and arguably the third best one. Although it is still not actually a good one.
Fantasy Island - FilmFour - 9pm
There is only one thing worse than a bad horror movie, and that is a boring horror movie. Fantasy Island is both bad and boring.
The Lawnmower Man - Sky Sci-Fi - 9pm
The somewhat infamous sci-fi thriller that pushed the technological envelope at the time, but looks hilariously dated now.
Denzel Washington and a bed full of money at the heart of the trouble in 2 Guns
2 Guns - Sky Showcase - 9pm
Our pick for tonight is 2 Guns, a very fun action thriller comedy starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Both men are playing undercover agents within a very dangerous drug cartel, but neither actually know that the other are undercover, both believing the other to be criminals too. If you don't get to check it out on TV tonight, 2 Guns is also available to watch on Netflix.
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - ITV4 - 10.30pm
The third of the Mel Gibson outings, this one has Tina Turner in it, who also sings the awesome title song.
Daredevil - FilmFour - 11.10pm
Ben Affleck's outing as the blind superhero is most notable for giving us Colin Farrell's most unhinged performance as the villainous Bullseye.
Tulip Fever - BBC Four - 11.55pm
A very impressive cast including Alicia Vikander, Christoph Waltz, Dane DeHaan and Judi Dench star in this romantic drama. Too bad it is actually quite bad, with just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.
George Michael: Portrait of an Artist - Channel 4 - 12.55am
If you're a fan of the late musician, then this documentary talking to his friends and peers will be a must-watch.
Last Action Hero - FilmFour - 1.15am
Arguably the most underappreciated of Arnie's movies, a flop upon release, but given a massive resurgence in popularity under a more modern lens.
Gifted - Channel 4 - 2.40am
A heartfelt comedy drama about an uncle (Chris Evans) who is raising his genius niece (Mckenna Grace) but gets into a custody battle with her untrustworthy mother.
