Your Sunday evening movie menu has arrived!
Welcome to the end your weekend! Let us celebrate with a movie or two…
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle/Jumanji: The Next Level – FilmFour – 6.40pm/9pm
A double-bill of the two rebootquels with The Rock and Kevin Hart and their pals trapped in a video game version of the boardgame. They’re both pretty fun.
William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet – BBC Three – 8pm
Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes star in this vibrant retelling of the classic romantic tragedy.
The Breakfast Club – FilmFour – 9pm
A nerd… a jock… a princess… a basket case… and a criminal…
Jack Reacher – E4 – 9pm
Arguably the most underappreciated of Tom Cruise’s action movies.
Open Water – Sky Sci-Fi – 9pm
A scuba diving couple are accidentally left behind due to miscount of the tourists, and they find themselves trapped alone in the middle of shark infested waters. A very tense survival thriller.
The Green Mile – RTÉ2 – 9pm
Tom Hanks headlines this prison-set weepie drama about an innocent man (Michael Clarke Duncan) with special gifts, but who is not long away from being sentenced to death.
1917 – BBC Three – 10pm
Director Sam Mendes delivers a visually glorious World War I epic.
3:10 to Yuma – FilmFour – 11.25pm
Our big pick for tonight is 3:10 to Yuma, an excellent western starring Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Ben Foster, Logan Lerman and Peter Fonda. Directed by James Mangold (Logan, Le Mans 66), it tells the story of a rancher (Bale) who agrees to hold on to a dangerous criminal (Crowe) until a train arrives to bring him to justice. If you miss it tonight, 3:10 to Yuma is also available to watch on Netflix.
