An incredible erotic thriller is among the movies on TV tonight
There are five movies on tonight with Rotten Tomatoes' scores of over 90%!
It is Wednesday and all you movie lovers are about to be spoiled. SPOILED! You could watch all three Godfathers for free, or you could choose from the new movies added to Prime Video, OR you can choose from the new movies added to Netflix. And that is before we even get to the movies on TV tonight! See? SPOILED!
K-19: The Widowmaker - FilmFour - 6.20pm
Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson star in this true-life submarine movie, with a Russian nuclear vessel suffering a glitch that could cause a cataclysmic disaster. From the director of Point Break and The Hurt Locker, it is an okay watch.
Escape Plan 3 - Legend - 9pm
Stallone once again finds himself in the depths of a seemingly inescapable prison, this time attempting to both break in and then get back out, in order to save the kidnapped daughter of a tech billionaire. Dave Bautista is also in this one. As you can probably guess, it is not very good.
Conan the Barbarian - FilmFour - 9pm
Arriving after The Terminator, this was the movie that really put Arnie's muscles out there on the big screen. And people absolutely loved it! But it is funny to think that this is from the makers of super serious dramas like Apocalypse Now and Born On The Fourth of July.
The Handmaiden is our pick tonight, but it is on LATE
Mad Max 2 - ITV4 - 9.10pm
The apocalyptic action thriller sequel leans into the madness that bit more. And also the leather. A lot of leather. The lead bad guy is called The Humungus and he wears a harness and a leather jockstrap. Read into that what you will.
The Mustang - FilmFour - 11.15pm
If it weren't for The Handmaiden later on tonight, this drama would've absolutely been our pick for the flicks tonight. Matthias Schoenaerts stars as a violent criminal who gets a second chance to rebuild his life through a rehabilitation program to train wild horses. An emotional watch, for sure.
Assault on Precinct 13 - Legend - 12.45am
John Carpenter's relentlessly tense thriller set within the confines of a police precinct, with the officers and criminals inside finding themselves under siege from a group of killers trying to break in.
Paris, Texas - FilmFour - 1.10am
A much-loved romantic drama, with a man (Harry Dean Stanton) found wandering the desert. Reunited with his brother (Dean Stockwell), it turns out that the man has been missing for years, and his return has a big reaction within his family.
The Handmaiden - Channel 4 - 2am
Our pick of the night is The Handmaiden, a terrific erotic psychological thriller from acclaimed director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Snowpiercer). It tells the story of a woman who is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, but secretly she is involved in a complicated plot to defraud her. Set in early 20th century Korea, when it was under rule by Japan, the movie ended up ranking in the Best Of The Year lists for over 40 major outlets when it was released in 2016, and to this day, is still considered one of the best movies of the 21st century. The Handmaiden is also available to rent on Google Play and Rakuten TV if you don't want to stay up til 2am to check it out tonight.
