One of the 21st century’s most controversial films is among the movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

The Hunt

Chances are that you didn’t see it in the cinema, because hardly anyone went to see it in the cinema when it was released.

Tuesday night is movie night. You’ve got your pick of 11 new additions to Prime Video, or seven movies to check out on your TV across the night. And here they are…

Gods of Egypt – FilmFour – 6.25pm

A bizarrely bad movie, but one you can’t seem to take your eyes away from. Gerard Butler as an evil, 15-foot-tall Egyptian god who doesn’t try to hide his Scottish accent at all? Sure. Why not.

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind – Sky Showcase – 9pm

This fantastic documentary takes a deep dive into the personal and professional life of one of Hollywood’s most beloved comedians of all time.

John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum – FilmFour – 9pm

The one that adds Halle Berry and Angelica Huston and a pack of awesome dogs. It is, arguably, the best one of the series.

Grown Ups 2 – Comedy Central – 9pm

One of the least funny “comedies” to ever exist.

Nighthawks – ITV4 – 11.10pm

Sylvester Stallone headlines this decent action thriller, playing an NYPD cop trying to track down a terrorist (Rutger Hauer) before he sets off a bomb in the city.

The Hunt – FilmFour – 11.35pm

Our pick for the night is The Hunt, an action thriller which became the centre of a controversy storm back in 2019 and 2020. It got to the point that even Donald Trump got involved, claiming that the movie was “racist” against rich people. Yes, seriously.

From the writer of Prometheus and World War Z, and the director of HBO’s amazing Mare of Easttown, the less you know about The Hunt going in, the better. But we will say this… it helps to have a VERY dark sense of humour…

The Hunt is also available to rent right now on Google Play, Sky Store, Rakuten TV and Apple TV.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose – FilmFour – 1.20am

A courtroom horror revolving around an exorcism, in which the priest believes a young woman was possessed by demons, but the prosecutor believes she was suffering from schizophrenia. Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson, Jennifer Carpenter and Campbell Scott fill out the impressive cast.
