Loads and loads of new movies added to Netflix this week!
Netflix has just added some big horror, comedy, drama, Oscar-winners, and one of the biggest box office hits of all time. Here they are, in alphabetical order:
10 X 10
Kelly Reilly and Luke Evans star in this thriller about a man who kidnaps a woman and holds her hostage in a soundproof room, trying to extract a secret from her past.
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
A huge box office hit. Winner of actual Academy Awards. Maybe the most-liked bad movie in cinema history.
BRIDE WARS
Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson two-hander about two women who plan their weddings on the same day… which leads to all-out lady war. It. Is. Awful.
BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY
The entire Bridget Jones’ trilogy – including The Edge of Reason and the one with the baby – have been added to Netflix this week. Question: Why is it Bridget Jones’s Diary, but Bridget Jones’ Baby? Why the extra S on the first one? It has been driving me mad for years.
DISTRICT 9
One of the best mixes of sci-fi and action… maybe ever? The long awaited District 10 is still nowhere to be seen. Sad face emoji.
GEORGETOWN
Directed by and starring Christoph Waltz, about the true-life story of Albrecht Gero Muth, a social climber who becomes the main suspect in the death of his wealthy and much older wife (Vanessa Redgrave). 58% on Rotten Tomatoes tells you everything you need to know.
GIGLI
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, during peak Beniffer era first time around, delivered one of the biggest critical duds of modern cinema.
GONE GIRL
Ben Affleck again, but this time in a much better movie; a murder-mystery involving a naive husband and his missing wife (Rosamund Pike).
GOOD BURGER
Netflix has just added what could arguably be called the ultimate 90s movie.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2
Neither the first one nor the third one are available on Netflix. But this one is, so… hooray?
INSIDE MAN
Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster headline an all-star cast in this twisty, entertaining bank heist thriller.
JUMANJI
The original version of the boardgame-but-for-real family adventure, with Robin Williams delivering another great performance.
KICK-ASS
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicolas Cage and Chloe Grace Moretz star in this brilliantly funny and violent send-up of superhero movies.
MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN
The first one isn’t available on Netflix, so we hope you know/remember the plot for that one, because otherwise you’re getting dropped into the deep of The Godfather Part II of musical-romantic-comedies.
MARLEY & ME
The punchline of so many jokes about making yourself feel sad, we’re not sure why anyone would actively want to watch this movie at this point?
MOM AND DAD
Nic Cage again, teaming up with Selma Blair and the director of Crank for this horror movie about a virus that suddenly causes every parent on the planet to violently turn on their own children.
MORTAL ENGINES
Ranked as one of the biggest box office bombs in cinema history, this a big swing of a fantasy movie about huge, moving cities that roam the Earth, consuming other, smaller cities.
MR. & MRS. SMITH
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie star as a married couple who don’t realise they’re both actually two of the best assassins in the world. Until they’re assigned to kill each other.
NIGHT SCHOOL
The pairing of Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish deserved a better script than this somewhat dull comedy.
THE PROGRAM
Chris O’Dowd stars as the Irish journalist at the front of the breaking story around Lance Armstrong (Ben Foster) using banned substances to win the Tour De France.
THE REVENANT
The survival horror drama that finally netted DiCaprio his Best Actor Oscar win.
SHAFT
Samuel L. Jackson is pretty great as the infamous detective, with a supporting including Christian Bale, Busta Rhymes and Toni Collette.
SING
The all-star voice cast for this animated musical comedy is better than the actual film they’re all in, but there is still plenty of entertainment to get gleaned from this one… especially for younger viewers.
SKYSCRAPER
What if Die Hard… but with The Rock… but also the building was kind of from the future?
THE SQUID AND THE WHALE
A brilliantly awkward comedy dealing with the emotional fallout of two genius parents separating and the impact that has on their kids. Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Daniels, Laura Linney, Anna Paquin and William Baldwin star.
TITANIC
Considering it is still the fourth biggest box office hit of all time, chances are you’ve already seen this one. Regardless, it is still pretty great.
UNFAITHFUL
Diane Lane was rightfully Oscar-nominated for her portrayal of a woman embarking on an extra-marital affair. One of the last great erotic thrillers.
VENOM
Tom Hardy has more fun on screen than you will have watching it.
WHAM
