Netflix rival Amazon Prime has launched in Ireland

JOE

A bit of friendly competition never hurt anyone.

The streaming service Amazon Prime has launched in Ireland, which is now one of more than 200 other countries that the service is available in.

Prime is most well-known for exclusively having the latest Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond show, The Grand Tour. It also offers a number of other shows, including the Emmy-award winning Transparent and The Man in the High Castle.

Irish customers will pay €2.99 a month for the first six months, but there is an offer to avail of a free seven day trial.

One of Prime’s most notable features is the ability to download shows, in order to then watch them offline. This is a feature that was only introduced by Netflix recently.

Currently, Netflix is the most dominant service in the market, but now it’s got a little competition.
