The new crime drama from the creators of Love/Hate releases a gripping trailer

Taken Down

Set record because it starts tomorrow.

The majority of TV viewers are familiar with the on-screen success stories that followed after Love/Hate’s remarkable success.

It’s testament to the team on the beloved crime drama that the like of Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Ruth Negga, Barry Keoghan, Charlie Murphy, Killian Scott, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gillen all featured in Stuart Carolan’s beloved show and while they already had sterling reputations, their work on Love/Hate definitely left an impression on casting agents in the UK and US.

On this note, expectations are high for Carolan’s spiritual successor to crime epic that featured Nidge, Tommy, Fran and the gang, but as stated previously, Taken Down is a very different beast.

To begin with, the show revolves around Detective Jen Rooney (Lynn Rafferty) as she investigates the violent death of a young Nigerian migrant whose abandoned body is found close to a direct provision centre.

The cast includes Aissa Maiga (Anything for Alice, Bianco e Nero), Brian Gleeson (Resistance, Phantom Thread),  Lynn Rafferty (Love/Hate), Orla Fitzgerald (The Young Offenders,) Jimmy Smallhorne (Love/Hate, Clean Break), Barry Ward (End of The F*cking World, The Fall,), Enoch Frost (Skyfall, The Desert) and Slimane Dazi (A Prophet, Rengaine).

If Taken Down proves to be half as good as Love/Hate, we’re in for a treat.

The show starts Sunday 4 November at 9:30pm on RTE One.
