Horror, comedy, tense dramas and TWO superhero epics are among the new cinema arrivals in June.

We’re getting into the heights of summer blockbuster season at your local cinema, but even if you’re not always in the mood for the biggest and loudest explosions, there are plenty of alternatives to check out on the big screen this month.

THE BOOGEYMAN – June 2

From the mind of Stephen King comes this creepy horror which revolves around a creature that “takes away your children when you’re not paying attention”. If you’re a fan of scary movies on the big screen, this will be a must-watch.

REALITY – June 2

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney plays a government official who arrives home to find agents searching her home for evidence that she was been leaking top secret information out of her job. A uniquely tense thriller, based entirely on a true story, with the script taken word-for-word from a transcript of the actual FBI recording.

SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE – June 2

The sequel to the Oscar-winning Into The Spider-Verse continues the animated journey of Miles Morales, finding his way in this world (and the many alternate versions of his world) as a friendly neighbourhood superhero. You can check out our chat with Jake Johnson (who voices Peter Parker) right here:

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS – June 8

Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) directs this huge blockbuster set decades before the Shia LaBeouf-fronted Transformers series of movies. Anthony Ramos (Hamilton) and Dominique Fishback (Swarm) headline the human cast, who are caught up in a three-way conflict between three factions of the Transformers race.

THE FLASH – June 16

Michael Keaton returns as Bruce Wayne for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns in this huge superhero epic. Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) attempts to use his powers to go back in time and stop his mother from being killed, only to accidentally slip into an alternate timeline, and cross paths with another version of himself.

NO HARD FEELINGS – June 21

In need of an immediate cash influx, a young woman (Jennifer Lawrence) agrees to help a wealthy couple in bringing their aggressively introvert 19-year-old son out of his shell. A very naughty, adults-only comedy that you don’t see in a cinema often enough anymore, the trailer is actually very funny.

ASTEROID CITY – June 23

Wes Anderson assembles a bonkers cast – Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie and Jeff Goldblum – for his latest oddball comedy.

INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY – June 28

The fifth and confirmed FINAL time that Harrison Ford will put on the hat and whip, this time Indy is tackling the remnants of the Nazis in 1969 America, including a race to find a mysterious object that could alter the course of history.

RUBY GILLMAN, TEENAGE KRAKEN – June 30

From the director of The Croods and the writer of South Park, this family-friendly animated story sees a teenage girl discover she is actually a descendant of a warrior race of underwater creatures. The impressive voice-cast includes Toni Collette, Annie Murphy, Sam Richardson, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Jaboukie Young-White, Nicole Byer and Jane Fonda.
