OFFICIAL: Val Kilmer's iconic character Iceman will return in Top Gun 2
"You can be my wingman any time."
Great balls of fire! After Tom Cruise took our breath away with the first image from the set of Top Gun: Maverick, we've got some news that will send ice through your veins.
Oh yes, Tom “Iceman” Kazansky will be getting back into the cockpit again.
Of course, Val Kilmer famously played the role in Tony Scott's beloved blockbuster and he's returning to play one of the most iconic 'frenemies' in film history.
The Wrap are reporting that the star of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Heat will be heading out on the highway to the dangerzone again in Joseph Kosinski's sequel. Of course, Iceman graduated at the top of his Top Gun class after Maverick nearly dropped out.
Truth be told, he's a badass.
As for the plot, little is known aside from these very interesting comments that were made by the CEO of Skydance Productions, David Ellison. He said that the film will take a look at modern warfare.
"It is very much a world we live in today where it’s drone technology, and fifth-generation fighters are really what the United States Navy is calling the last man-made fighter that we’re actually going to produce, so it’s really [about] exploring the ‘end of an era’ of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today. The plot will take place in the present day to account for the decades between the sequel and 1986," he said.
So, any chance of a volleyball game?
