WATCH: The trailer for Liam Neeson’s Belfast-set drama confirms we are going to cry A LOT

We’re anticipating full-on, can’t-control-it, runny-nose blubbering.

It wasn’t too long ago that we were talking about this movie and its initial run at the Toronto film festival and how the early reviews were pretty fantastic.

But now we’ve got the official trailer for Official Love and even though we were fully prepared for heartbreak, in less than two minutes, the trailer perfectly gets across the relationship of two people in love and how both of their lives are about to be turned upside down.

The movie is directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Lyburn (who also co-directed another great Belfast shot and set movie, Good Vibrations), and it tells the story of a quiet husband (Neeson) and his fierce wife (Lesley Manville, best known for playing Daniel Day-Lewis’ spiky sister in Phantom Thread), and how their decades-long loving marriage is thrown into turmoil when she is diagnosed with cancer.

From the trailer, we can also see the movie features David Wilmot (Intermission, The Guard) and while there are multiple scenes of everyone putting on a brave face as they head into truly heartbreaking waters, we can already tell that these will be used with surgical precision to make sure that we’ll be crying again in no time.

Even that bit with the soup at the start… oh no, we’re going to start crying right now…

Ordinary Love is released in Irish cinemas on Friday 6 December.
