Action fans need look no further than this.

We’ve got another few months to go before John Wick 3: Parabellum hits the cinema, so before then we’ll actually get another great actor playing a totally kick-ass assassin who finds himself fighting for his life.

Polar finds Casino Royale/Rogue One star Mads Mikkelsen as a retired expert hitman who finds himself dragged back into the world of assassinations when his former employer finds him to be a liability, and sends a series of younger, faster, more modernly trained killers to take him out.

The extremely eclectic supporting cast features Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Matt Lucas (Little Britain), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass), and Katheryn Winnick (Vikings).

Behind the camera is director Jonas Ã…kerlund, best known for directing music videos for everyone from Beyonce (‘Haunted’) and Lady Gaga (‘Paparazzi’) to Madonna (‘Music’) and The Prodigy (‘Smack My Bitch Up’).

Whether or not they can match the huge popularity of John Wick remains to be seen, but we don’t have too long to wait to find out.

Polar arrives on Netflix on Friday 25 January.
