The show will also be marking one hundred years of Irish football.

President Michael D. Higgins is leading the line-up of The Late Late Show this week in what looks like it will be a particularly packed episode for the show.

The President will be live in the studio chatting to host Ryan Tubridy about his Machnamh 100 series of seminars on the War of Independence and Civil War.

Topics also set to be discussed include Higgins’ decade as the president of Ireland and his love of football.

The latter will be as the show is going to mark 100 years of Irish football, with some of the greatest Irish players ever – David O’Leary, Niall Quinn, Packie Bonner, Paul McGrath and Shay Given – to appear on the programme to share their memories of representing Ireland.

Also, joining the show will be current internationals Chloe Mustaki, Dara O’Shea, Gavin Bazunu and Jessie Stapleton, as well as managers Stephen Kenny and Vera Pauw.

On top of this, John Charlton will be paying tribute to his father, Jack Charlton.

In terms of music, singer-songwriter David Gray will perform his single ‘This Year’s Love’ from his hit album White Ladder, while Irish folk singer Dan McCabe will sing ‘The Fields of Athenry’.

This week’s Late Late Show episode will air on RTÉ One on Friday, 20 May at 9.35pm.
