Prime Video has added 25 huge movies to its library

We recently gave a run down of all the movies quietly added to Netflix in recent weeks, now we are doing the same for Prime Video:

Almost Famous

This acclaimed semi-autobiographical comedy-drama centres around a teenage journalist (Patrick Fugit) as he writes for Rolling Stone magazine in the early 1970s and tours with a rock band.

American Made

In this very fun action comedy loosely based on true events, Tom Cruise plays an American pilot in the ’70s and ’80s who gets recruited to fly clandestine reconnaissance missions for the CIA before becoming a drug smuggler for the Medellín Cartel.

Bernie

Jack Black gives maybe his best performance to date in this black comedy-drama based on a true events about a Texan mortician (Black) whose relationship with a wealthy widow (Shirley MacLaine) takes a dark turn.

Matthew McConaughey co-stars.

Blow Out

In this ’80s thriller, John Travolta plays a movie sounds effect technician who witnesses a car crash and stumbles into a political conspiracy.

Directed by Brian De Palma (Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables), Blow Out is one of the greatest thrillers ever made.

Dublin Crust

This 2023 Irish drama is about a drummer (writer-director Baz Black) released from prison who sets out to reform his old punk band Crust.

Ex Machina

A programmer (Domhnall Gleeson) is invited to a luxurious, isolated home by his CEO (Oscar Isaac) to participate in a ground-breaking experiment involving an intelligent humanoid robot (Alicia Vikander).

Written and directed by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Annihilation), Ex Machina is one of the best sci-fi movies of the past 10 years.

Fifty Dead Men Walking

A Troubles-set crime thriller starring Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley and Rose McGowan that JOE previously called “really underappreciated”.

Fremont

This acclaimed US indie centres on an Afghan refugee (Anaita Wali Zada) living in the titular Californian town and features The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White in a supporting role.

Get Shorty

Travolta stars again, this time in this classic ’90s gangster comedy.

Hacksaw Ridge

This Mel Gibson-directed film starring Andrew Garfield was recently named as one of the 10 best war movies of all time.

The Hummingbird Project

Two cousins and high-frequency traders (Alexander Skarsgård and Jesse Eisenberg) go up against their old boss (Salma Hayek) in an effort to make millions in a fiber-optic cable deal in this drama thriller.

Igby Goes Down

A cult favourite coming-of-age comedy-drama starring Kieran Culkin as a rebellious, sardonic teenager.

Joy Ride

One of 2023’s funniest (and also most surprisingly emotional) films, Joy Ride follows four female friends as they travel to Asia in search of one of their birth mothers and wind up becoming embroiled in various shenanigans.

Lady Bird

Saoirse Ronan earned an Oscar nomination for her lead role in Barbie director Greta Gerwig’s breakthrough film.

Limitless

Bradley Cooper takes a pill that makes him super smart in this fun sci-fi thriller.

Married to the Mob

A gangster’s widow (Michelle Pfeiffer) tries to escape the criminal life in this beloved comedy from director Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Stop Making Sense).

Mississippi Burning

This excellent 1988 crime thriller focuses on two FBI agents (Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe) as they look into the disappearance of three civil rights workers in ’60s Mississippi.

Throughout the course of their investigation, the agents are met with hostility by the town’s residents, local police and the Ku Klux Klan.

The Northman

This star-studded Viking epic is one of the best action movies of the decade so far.

Reality

Sydney Sweeney stars in this compelling, fascinating crime drama from 2023 based on true events.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

The recent reboot of the video-game adaptation zombie movie franchise.
