Comedy, horror, action, drama, thriller, romance… all of the genres are covered by the latest batch of Prime Video additions.
BRUNO
Sasha Baron Cohen tries to do for American interpretations of sexuality what Borat did for American interpretations of other nationalities. It didn’t do nearly as well, but there are still a handful of decent gags in here.
THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY
Back when Hollywood wasn’t quite sure what to do with new hunk Henry Cavill, they plopped him in this truly awful action thriller alongside Sigourney Weaver and Bruce Willis.
HACKSAW RIDGE
Mel Gibson directs this brilliant WWII action drama about a soldier (Andrew Garfield) who signs up to fight for his country, but due to his religious beliefs, refuses to carry a weapon.
MARCUS
This little-known but well-reviewed 2020 drama focuses on a man (Owen Miller) who must overcome some major personal obstacles in order to start setting his life back on the right path.
PRISONERS
Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Viola Davis and Maria Bello star in this dark psychological thriller about the lengths a father will go to in order to find his kidnapped daughter.
SAFE
A decent Jason Statham action thriller, in which he is tasked with keeping a young genius safe from a group of murderous gangsters.
SAFE HAVEN
Julianne Hough, Josh Duhamel and Cobie Smulders star in this rom-dram from the author of The Notebook. Has one of the most WTF endings of recent years.
SPOTLIGHT
One of the best movies of the last ten years, featuring an all-star cast playing investigators who uncover the massive abuse scandal cover-up orchestrated by the Catholic Church.
WALKAWAY JOE
Another little known 2020 movie, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and David Strathairn, about a series of odd relationships that develop between people trying to forget their pasts.
WILLY’S WONDERLAND
If you’ve ever played hit video game Five Nights At Freddy’s, then this is basically that. Nic Cage fights a series of evil, come-to-life animatronic creations.
