Return of the Maestro – John Williams officially confirmed to return as Star Wars composer

BAAAAAH!!!!! BAH BAH BAAH. BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH etc. That was JOE's rendition of the Star Wars theme. Obviously.

Here’s some great news to cheer you up on a dull, grey, Monday morning – movie maestro John Williams aka Steven Spielberg’s musical life partner, has confirmed that he will be returning to a galaxy far, far away to score Episodes VII, VIII and IX of the eagerly-anticipated new Star Wars films.

Here at JOE we’re happier than a Bantha in shit. Quite simply, the man is responsible for some of the most iconic film theme tunes ever written. Ever. In the history of film. EVER.

We think you get the point.

Since being announced as director,  J. J. Abrams had already hinted that he would love the composer to return and, at a Star Wars event in Germany on Saturday, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy officially confirmed the news that Williams would once more take up his musical lightsaber (that’s a terrible Star Wars metaphor for his baton).

The 81 year old, having scored all six of the films so far, is an integral part of the fabric of the Star Wars universe and so, for fans of the space opera worldwide, this comes as very welcome and very reassuring news.

Now if we can just quash those rumours that Zac Efron is in the running to play Luke Skywalker’s son then we’ll all be happy…

In the meantime, listen to the great man talk about how he plans to score the futuristic future films in this interview with starwars.com:
