Sacha Baron Cohen may not even air his most controversial Who Is America? interview

It’s the interview that Sarah Palin doesn’t want anyone to see.

Sacha Baron Cohen has cooked up plenty of controversy with his new show Who Is America? But many had been suspecting that the worst was yet to come.

Earlier this year, former vice-presidential candidate Palin took to Facebook to issue a statement about the interview Baron Cohen conducted with her while in disguise.

At the time, Palin wrote that she had “fallen victim to the evil, exploitative, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime.”

However, as it turns out, we might not ever get to see the interview.

Gary Levine, who serves as programming president of Showtime, has cast doubt over whether the interview will even air.

“All I can say about that is that there are several people who have thrown themselves in front of buses that may not be heading their way,”

However, it’s not because Baron Cohen is scared of the backlash. Levine confirmed that the reason the interview might not make the final cut is purely quality-related, saying Baron Cohen “has a very high bar”.

Baron Cohen has always been predictable, however, and it’s entirely possible that Levine is just tempting us to lower our guard before hitting us with some more controversy.
