Relive Sister Michael’s chat with Uncle Colm and the wake in Derry Girls in all its glory

Paul Moore

Sister Michael

“Am I dead?”

“What’s happening?”

Yes, that’s what Sister Michael said after she had to endure a horrific conversation with the most boring man in Ireland – granted, Uncle Colm’s punchline was quite funny – but the same could be said for the entire, most recent episode of Lisa McGee’s beloved show.

Between Michelle telling Orla “I’m not sticking a scone up my hole. I’ll tell you that for nothing”, Ma Mary trying to steal the earrings from a corpse, and the gang’s best attempts at destroying those ‘funny scones’ in the bathroom, it was absolute chaos.

Truth be told, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Special props for Orla thinking that the ‘funny scones’ are only funny because they physically “do look like good craic” and Michelle stating that “old people are arseholes”.

Ever leave your house without a plunger? As Orla would say “aye, nightmare so it is”.

With the next episode of Derry Girls set to arrive on Tuesday, there’s no better time to relive Ireland’s strangest wake. If you’re unfortunate to attend a wake, we do hope it’s half as interesting as this one.

Hallions, the lot of them.

Never change.
